Center Volunteer Staff
We are in need of individuals to help staff the Center during our regular business hours, which are currently Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from noon to 9pm and Saturdays from 9am to 2pm. Volunteer staff are responsible for greeting and assisting visitors to the Center, simple office work, special projects, and helping to keep the Center neat and clean. It's easy work, and you get to meet people, make new friends, and help keep your community center open.
Commitees
We are looking for volunteers who can commit to helping plan, coordinate, and carry out different functions within One Voice. We’re currently looking to set up committees for:
- Volunteer Coordinator
- Volunteer Orientation
- Marketing
- Fundraising
- Programs
- Facility
1VCC LGBT Switchboard and Anti-Violence Helpline
We are projecting to get this program started late 2009/early 2010. We will be training volunteers to help answer calls from individuals in our community impacted by acts or threats of violence. We currently have a committee set up to create a training program and manual for this program. Let us know if you'd like to help with the planning and setup of this program, or if you'd like to be on the phones when it is set up (or both).
Special Events Team
we periodically host an informational table or booth at various events, such as Pride, Rainbows Festival, the 7th Ave Street Fair, MyFest, etc. We need volunteers available to help staff these tables, hand out fliers, sign up new volunteers, and answer questions, as well as help with set up and take down. These are mostly weekend, daytime assignments. We also occasionally need volunteers to help distribute pamphlets and posters promoting One Voice to LGBT friendly establishments across the Valley
Board of Directors - if you’d like to make a very serious commitment to the Center, have the skills and experience, and are interested in helping to plan and direct a community organization which is still very much new and growing, you may apply to be on the Board of Directors.
